Plan your book with confidence.

Start with a Plan

A good novel is carefully crafted to engage the reader deeply with a meaningful character arc and matching plot. A good nonfiction book takes the reader through a transformation. This is hard to create without a plan.

Whether you create the plan before you start writing, while you’re wrestling with the story, or after the first draft is done, you’ll need to think through important questions about what your book is really about and how to tell your story in an engaging way.

With the Blueprint for a Book method, even people who don't like outlining can get clarity on the foundation of their story. You can save yourself a lot of time and revisions by taking the time to complete a blueprint for your book.

Blueprint for a Book is for you if:

  • You want to write a novel, memoir, or nonfiction book but you don't know where to start.

  • You want guidance to plan and outline your book.

  • You are stuck part-way through writing your book or book proposal and want to get un-stuck.

  • You want professional feedback on your book concept and outline.

  • You want help finding and fixing plot holes or other big issues in your story.

  • You want confidence in your book concept, instead of writing the whole draft just to find out that the book doesn't work.

How It Works

The Blueprint for a Book is a 14-step framework for planning your book from the inside out, developed by Jennie Nash, founder of Author Accelerator. I am certified and licensed to teach this system. There are three versions: fiction, nonfiction, and memoir.

When you purchase this service from me, I will send you the Blueprint workbook and we will set a deadline for you to return your completed Blueprint to me. When I receive your completed Blueprint, I will take two weeks to review it. I will provide written feedback and in-line comments throughout your Blueprint. Then we will meet for a video call to discuss your feedback and next steps.

Price: $875

Optional additional deadlines are $375 each

After you receive feedback, you might find that you have more work to do on your Blueprint before you are ready to write. This is normal! Developing a book is an iterative process. The more work you do on your blueprint, the stronger your manuscript will be.

If you would like continued one-on-one support as you work on your Blueprint or draft, you may purchase additional deadlines.

How extra deadlines work:

  • Submit Blueprint exercises or up to 5000 words of your draft to me on a Monday morning.

  • I send written feedback by Wednesday end of day.

  • We have a coaching call on Thursday or Friday.

When you are finished with your Blueprint, it's time to write! Get continued support by joining an Accountability Group.

  • “Katelin's kind and compassionate feedback helped me clarify my outline as I tackled a large rewrite of my book. Her guidance, feedback, and gentle prodding to dig deeper at times made my manuscript stronger and my revision much more manageable to execute. When I came to Katelin, I was intimidated about the revision ahead, but after our work together I felt empowered and excited to finish.”

  • "Katelin is an awesome book coach! She helped me expand upon my draft through the blueprint process. Not only did this process help me find the holes, but it helped me develop a plan for the overall arc of the book, something I hadn't previously considered. I can truly say my current draft would not be the same without Katelin's expertise in this regard. Katelin doesn't just care about your writing process; she cares about you as a person."
